Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, recently told the conspiracy website WorldNetDaily that killing the immigration reform bill in the House would somehow make Latinos realize that “Republicans really like me.”
He also claimed that black voters are embracing the Republican Party, however, CNN reported that during the 2012 election a whopping 93 percent of black voters supported President Barack Obama.
Popular VideoSNL is not a fan of the Trump administration, and it shows with every new skit they produce. Do you think they need to tone it down?
"Yeah, we could possibly pay in the polls in the short term," said Gohmert. "But just as you’ve had more and more African-Americans realizing, ‘Wow, we have one party that’s pandered to us, doled out government benefits, kept us from reaching our God-given potential.’”
Gohmert said Latino voters would join the GOP after they realize that the Republican Party wants them to learn to speak English “because we do not want you to be a ditch digger because you can’t communicate. We know you are smart enough to be president of this company and to be president of this country if you’re born here.”
Gohmert noted on RightWingWatch.org "if we don’t communicate that message we could pay for it. We could in the short term, but in the long term, I think you will see people start waking up and go, ‘Wow, I’m Hispanic, these Republicans really like me.’”
