A U.S. Border Patrol agent suspected of raping three undocumented immigrants was found dead in his Texas home, likely by his own hand.
Local news source My San Antonio reported Thursday that an injured woman, believed to be Honduran, was found by Customs and Border Patrol. She told officials that a man in a green uniform had attacked her, her 14-year-old daughter, and another 14-year-old girl. The group was trying to enter the country through Hidalgo County, Texas.
Officials found one of the teenagers with a stab wound. She and the mother had been raped and left for dead near Abram, a tiny town near the Texas/Mexico border, but managed to flee.
They found the second girl tied up at the agent’s apartment. He had kidnapped and bound her until he finished his shift. He then returned to the apartment, raped her, and committed suicide.

"Upon entry, Mission PD ... together with CBP and other law enforcement entities, found the agent deceased and discovered the third female," the agency said in the statement.
Sources identified the agent as Esteban Manzanares.
His ex-wife, Susana Manzanares, told The Monitor that an FBI agent told her of Manzanares' suicide on Thursday.
“I didn’t know anything, just that he killed himself,” she said. “That’s the only thing that they told me.”
Esteban Manzanares is the father of her two young children.
Susana Manzanares said that her ex-husband did not show any outward signs of mental imbalance during or after their divorce.
“He was still the same person,” she said. “I didn’t notice anything. He wanted the divorce so I don’t know why it would affect him. We both wanted it.”
The McAllen branch of the FBI's San Antonio office is leading an investigation into the disturbing chain of events. Homeland Security Investigations, the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department, and the Mission Police Department are also contributing.
The victims were treated at McAllen Medical Center.
