Hillary Criticized For Promoting 'Nasty Woman' Shirt (Photos)

Hillary Clinton is lending her name in a humorous way to a fundraising campaign for Planned Parenthood.

On July 11, Clinton tweeted a photo of a T-shirt emblazoned with the words "Nasty Woman," which is being sold by the satirical comedian Samantha Bee to raise funds for the organization, reports the Huffington Post.

The shirt is available for sale on the website for the TBS network, on which Bee's talk show "Full Frontal With Samantha Bee" airs.

The product description reads: "By getting this exclusive ‘Nasty Woman’ shirt, you’re joining Samantha Bee and countless other smart, fearless women and men in supporting Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project Los Angeles County, standing up for women’s (aka, human) rights and helping to pave the way for a brighter future."

The shirt is also being sold by the online charity website Omaze, which includes the following blurb from Bee: "With the uncertainty of the healthcare bill, we may need to keep Planned Parenthood afloat one t-shirt at a time. Help us achieve our goal of donating $1M to Planned Parenthood before this campaign closes on July 12."

The "Nasty Woman" slogan was inspired by President Donald Trump, who used the term to describe Clinton during a 2016 presidential debate, notes People. Ironically, it was quickly adopted as an ironic feminist rallying cry for Clinton.

Not surprisingly, Clinton's promotion of the shirt is being widely criticized in conservative circles, observes Inquisitr.

"From almost the President to selling trendy liberal t-shirts," quipped one Twitter user. "Sad!"

Another tweeted: "I could never image handing my little girl this shirt… it’s degrading, sad and reinforces a negative image on young women."

The conservative media watchdog group Media Resource Center declared that Clinton had been "reduced to promoting T-shirts."

Infowars summed up its view of the matter with the headline "Two-time Democrat presidential loser refuses to go away."

But the "Nasty Woman" campaign seems to be working, with over $900,000. "The lucky person who gets us to our $1 million goal will get their picture on our show, a thank you video, a basket of Full Frontal swag, and a blazer of my choice," says Bee. "So, make it rain, nasty women!"
