Former Secretary of State and 2016 presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton called for paid family leave in a new video clip posted on Mother’s Day.

In the video, posted below, Clinton was heard telling a story of her mother, who was abandoned by her parents and grandparents as a child. Calling her mother her “guiding light,” Clinton credited her for lighting a “spark” within her.

“At a time that should be so exciting and joyful, I see so many women just distraught,” she said. “They have to immediately go back to work. They don’t know how they are going to manage. It is outrageous that America is the only country in the developed world that doesn’t guarantee paid leave.”

Clinton spoke of her daughter and newborn granddaughter, saying that she wants her granddaughter and “every child in our country” to have “every opportunity.”

“We know that when women are strong, families are strong. When families are strong, countries are strong,” she said. “What more can we do so it isn’t quite so hard? The answer is, we can do a lot. If we do it together.”
