Fox News host Chris Wallace confronted House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., over the GOP-controlled House and its do-nothing agenda. The confrontation stemmed from the GOP’s 40th Obamacare repeal being held while key appropriations are failing to pass before the government runs out of money in September.

Wallace began a heated debate Sunday over “what a waste of time it is to keep repealing Obamacare … when it’s not going to happen.”

“Rightly or wrongly, none of the bills you passed is going to become law,” Wallace said. “You have only passed four of 12 appropriations bills you are supposed to pass. We face a government shut down in the fall. Is this the best time to spend your time, passing bills that won’t become law?”

When asked if the Republicans would compromise on sequestration, Cantor said the GOP might be agreeable if there are entitlement cuts.

"What we need to have happen is leadership on the part of this president and the White House to come to the table finally and say we're going to fix the underlying problem that's driving our deficit," Cantor said. "We know that is the entitlement programs and the unfunded liability that they are leaving on this generation and the next."

Wallace told Cantor the GOP has the “power of the purse,” but “only four of the 12 appropriations bills have you even passed.”

He asked Cantor, “Why not do what the House is supposed to do?”

Congress began a 5-week recess on Friday and will have only nine legislative days before September ends and the government runs out of money.

“You don’t have common ground with the president and you don’t have common ground with the Senate Republican leadership,” an exasperated Wallace told Cantor. “Aren’t we headed for a train wreck?”
