Fox & Friends Airs Fake Story About Obama Funding Muslim Museum (Video)

| by Sarah Fruchtnicht

Fox News host Anna Kooiman reported on a fake story claiming President Barack Obama was using his own money to fund a museum dedicated to Muslim culture, so it could stay open during the shutdown.

Kooiman presented the piece, published by satirical website The National Report, on “Fox & Friends Saturday.” It claims President Obama wants furloughed workers to spend their free time learning about Islam because Muslims “are not all bad.”

She juxtaposed that false story with the headline that veterans were denied entry into the WWII memorial in D.C.

“The Republican National Committee is offering to pay for it to keep it open so that the veterans from Honor Flight are going to be able to go and see this because who did it honor? It honored them,” Kooiman said Saturday morning.

“It really doesn’t seem fair, especially—and we’re going to talk a little bit later in the show too about some things that are continuing to be funded. And President Obama has offered to pay out of his own pocket for the museum of Muslim culture out of his own pocket, yet it’s the Republican National Committee who’s paying for this," she added.

After the show, Kooiman tweeted that she met with producers, admitted she had “made a mistake” and apologized. She blamed the report on the fact that she was “receiving flawed research.”
