Rep. Walter Jones (R-North Carolina) said on Saturday at the Young Americans for Liberty Conference that "Lyndon Johnson’s probably rotting in hell right now because of the Vietnam War, and he probably needs to move over for Dick Cheney” (video below).
According to HuffingtonPost.com, Rep. Jones said it was impossible to prosecute a president for intentionally manipulating intelligence reports to make the case for war.
Rep. Jones said that he co-authored a bill to change the law, but his legislation was killed by Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas).
“I have no malice towards Lamar, I have respect for him,” Rep. Jones said. “But that again is the problem. Congress will not hold anyone to blame. Lyndon Johnson’s probably rotting in hell right now because of the Vietnam War, and he probably needs to move over for Dick Cheney.”
Rep. Jones initially voted in favor of the Iraq war in 2002, but the conservative Christian turned against the war after witnessing American causalities and once it became clear Iraq did not have any weapons of mass destruction as claimed by President Bush, Vice President Cheney, Secretary of State Condi Rice, Secretary of Defense Colin Powell and U.S. Ambassador John Bolton.
Popular VideoCongress just passed a drug testing law that has a lot of people outraged. Do you think this is wrong?
