U.S. Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and Steve King (R-Iowa) held a press conference on Saturday to state their support for Egypt's new government, which recently overthrew its democratically-elected government.
Rep. Bachmann said that Egypt and the U.S. had a common enemy, the Muslim Brotherhood, which was supposedly behind the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in the United States.
"Many of you have asked, do we understand who the enemy is?" said Rep. Bachmann (video below). "We can speak for ourselves. We do. We have seen the threat that the Muslim Brotherhood has posed here for the people in Egypt. We have seen the threat that the Muslim Brotherhood has posed around the world."
"We stand against this great evil," she continued. "We are not for them. We remember who caused 9/11 in America. We remember who it was that killed 3,000 brave Americans. We have not forgotten."

In reality, the 9/11 attack was planned by Osama bin Laden and carried out by members of al-Qaeda.
On September 14, 2011, the Muslim Brotherhood signed a group condemnation of the 9/11 attacks:
The undersigned, leaders of Islamic movements, are horrified by the events of Tuesday 11 September 2001 in the United States which resulted in massive killing, destruction and attack on innocent lives. We express our deepest sympathies and sorrow. We condemn, in the strongest terms, the incidents, which are against all human and Islamic norms. This is grounded in the Noble Laws of Islam which forbid all forms of attacks on innocents. God Almighty says in the Holy Qur’an: ‘No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another’ (Surah al-Isra 17:15).
