War is not the place to exercise political correctness. with very few exceptions, women do not have the upper body strength that men do. In battle, the enemy is doing it's best to reduce you and your technological equipment to blasted dead junk. It is true that much of combat is done with small arms and supporting ordinance. However, there have been, and will be in the future, many cases where supporting ordinance cannot be there, ammunition is gone and/or weapons are dysfunctional for one or more reasons. it is absolutely the obligation to kill while the enemy is trying to kill you. There is the very real possibility that you may have to sacrifice your life to save your teammates: that is part and parcel to and in combat.
Promotion opportunities are not the reason to allow women to be in combat. There are other ways to allow women to hold positions and pay equivalence with high rank.
