New York City police are looking into whether an image on an al-Qaeda website constitutes a threat of a terrorist attack on the city.
The New York Daily News reports that the image shows the city skyline with the words "Al Qaeda Coming Soon Again In New York."
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said there has been no chatter to suggest that an attack is imminent or even being planned, but the "obvious implications" of the image are enough to launch an investigation.
"It’s something we’re looking into," Browne said. "We’re trying to determine the origins of it. We take all things like this seriously."
Browne said the image was posted in the "artwork and design" section of the website.
