Students at Harvard University were recently asked if the U.S. or the terrorist group ISIS was a bigger threat to world peace.
The conservative website Campus Reform posted a video (below) of the students' answers.
"To world peace? Oh, America," said one student holding some lattes.
"In a way I have to think it is America because America is making decisions that are much more likely to affect the world," added a female student.
“I think American imperialism and our protection of oil interests in the Middle East are destabilizing the region and allowing groups like ISIS to gain power,” stated a young woman wearing a Harvard shirt. “We are, at some level, the cause of it."
“As a western civilization, we’re to blame for a lot of the problems that we’re facing now,” added a student sporting a beard. “I don't think anyone would argue that we didn't create the problem of ISIS, ourselves.”
While the students' answers may sound unpatriotic, they are technically correct. ISIS is made up of former Iraqis (Sunnis) who used to be in Saddam Hussein's army, which was disbanded by President Bush, according to Middle East expert Fawaz Gerges, notes CNN.

ISIS gets worldwide attention because it films its gruesome murders in lurid details, from beheadings to crucifixions and mass executions in Iraq and Syria. However, in sheer numbers, the U.S. has taken more lives in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
Matthew Levitt, director of the Stein Program on Counterterrorism and Intelligence at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, told CNN that ISIS is "the best-financed [terrorist] group we've ever seen."
ISIS makes most of its money by selling oil from stolen Syrian and Iraqi wells to U.S. allies such as Turkey. ISIS also gets funding from wealthy Sunni Arabs in Kuwait and Qatar, countries which are also supposed to be allies of America, reports CNN (video below).
