One of the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing is saying that his brother’s wife was not involved.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told investigators that his brother’s widow, Katherine Russell, was not a part of the plot to detonate bombs at the legendary marathon’s finish line. Russell was married to Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
Russell has been facing increased scrutiny from investigators as they look into her deceased husband’s past. Federal officials have been looking into the contact that she had with her husband in days before and after the bombings, Newser reported. It has been alleged that Russell had a phone conversation with Tamerlan hours after the FBI began circulating photographs of the Tsarnaev brothers as suspects.
Despite Dzhokhar’s assertions that his brother’s wife is innocent, the investigation into her potential involvement with the plot will continue.

Russell's attorney, Amato DeLuca, said his client plans to "continue to meet with investigators, part of a series of meetings over many hours where she has answered questions,' in a statement released on Wednesday.
Criminal defense attorney Joshua Dratel will also be joining Russell's defense team. This development is notable because Dratel has represented terror suspects, including a Guantanamo detainee, in the past.
