Republicans Blame Obama for Airplane Shot Down Over Ukraine (Video)

Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was reportedly shot down by a surface-to-air missile over the Ukraine, and all 298 passengers, which included one American, died.

It's not clear who exactly is responsible for shooting down the plane, but President Obama believes it may have been Russian-backed separatists.

According to The New York Times, President Obama has promised to investigate exactly what happened.

“We are going to make sure the truth is out,” stated President Obama. “We don’t have time for propaganda. We don’t have time for games.”

The bodies have not yet all been recovered, but Republicans and conservatives are already blaming President Obama for the airliner crash.

Last night on the Fox News show "Hannity," Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and the host attacked President Obama for going to fundraisers yesterday (video below).

"I think your network has already played the clip of Ronald Reagan's reaction when the South Korean airliner was shot down," stated Sen. McCain. "This is what we used call in the military AWOL."

However, neither Hannity or Sen. McCain mentioned that President Reagan was actually vacationing in California when the South Korean airline was shot down by the Russians (video below).

CBS News reporter Deborah Potter stated in 1983, "At the time, officials said, there were no plans for the president to cut short his vacation, and he went for his regular horseback ride on his mountaintop ranch. Aides said that anything he could do at the White House he could do there."

However, the facts didn't stop Sen. McCain from going on his rant.

“It’s just been cowardly,” stated Sen. McCain, noted Mediaite.com. “It’s a cowardly administration that we failed to give the Ukrainians weapons with which to defend themselves.”

Sen. McCain then imagined aloud that the Russian-backed separatists “may not even have occupied and had access to these weapons, which apparently they got at an airfield” had the U.S. intervened militarily.

Rep. Peter King (R-NY) blamed President Obama's "failure of leadership" while appearing on Megyn Kelly's Fox News show, noted Salon.com.

Conservative Eric Erickson also jumped on the Reagan comparison to attack Obama on Twitter, but like Hannity and Sen. McCain, ignored the facts of history:

President Reagan was on vacation in CA when KA007 was shot down. He immediately canceled all events and flew back to Washington.

Fox News religion reporter Todd Starnes also used the plane crash to attack President Obama on Twitter:

Yesterday Obama announces new sanctions against Russia. Today, jetliner crashes in Ukraine.

Starnes also tweeted:

Unless it involves beer or golf - POTUS is not interested.

Obama won't comment on Malaysian jetliner crash until he's had a chance to read tomorrow's paper.

According to MediaMatters.org, former GOP Congressman and current Fox News contributor Allen West wrote on his blog:

Sadly, hundreds of Ukrainians and 298 souls on MH17 have paid the price for the weakness and abject cowardice of Obama’s "flexibility." And here in America we quibble over a lawsuit against this charlatan.

The blood on Vladimir Putin’s hands was poured by Barack Obama who is indirectly responsible, accountable accountable [sic] and no different than Neville Chamberlain’s weakness in the face of the 20th Century maniacal dictator Adolf Hitler.
