Radio Host Laura Ingraham Potential Press Secretary

| by Oren Peleg

As President-elect Donald Trump begins to assemble his administration, conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham has surfaced as a potential pick for Press Secretary. Ingraham's potential appointment would mark the second alt-right media figure selected for Trump's inner circle following former Breitbart CEO Steve Bannon.

"We’ll see what happens," Ingraham said, reports Politico. "I think people are getting a little far ahead of the narrative."

Ingraham was a former defense attorney and clerked for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Beyond her nationally syndicated radio show, she is a contributor to Fox News and has published a series of books taking aim at the alleged liberal-bias of the media, and also runs the website LifeZette.com, notes The Hill.

According to Politico, Ingraham helped Trump in his debate prep against former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. She has also pushed for Trump support on her radio program and on Fox News, reports CNN.

"It's a big decision, but I'm at the point where, if my country needs me, and if I can do something to actually, you know, advance the Trump agenda, which is stuff I have written about now for 15 years, with trade, immigration and just renewing America, then I obviously have to seriously consider that,” Ingraham added.

According to Media Matters, days before the election, Ingraham suggested that Clinton would assassinate FBI Director James Comey for his role in the Clinton email scandal and the letter he sent to Congress resurfacing the matter.

“Comey will be lucky if he doesn't find himself having to get a food taster after all this, or a remote starter on his car,” Ingraham said on her syndicated “The Laura Ingraham Show."

“You get down with the Clintons, you’re going to get down in the mud, or worse -- or be buried under the mud, frankly. It’s a dangerous deal to get down with the Clintons.”

During a Nov. 6 Trump rally in Leesburg, Virginia, Ingraham proposed that the media who oppose Trump should be punished.

“[T]hese are the same people who have ridiculed and mocked the American people for just about too long, don't you think?” Ingraham asked the crowd. “And now it is our time to put them on trial. It is our time to be counted, not ridiculed. It is our time to be heard, and no one, I really think other than Donald Trump could have done this.”
