After Islamist militia members announced they had taken control of the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli, Libya, newly released video shows members of the group playing in the pool at the compound.
The newly released video shows a large group of men standing around the pool at the Embassy in Tripoli as some proceed to jump off a balcony on the house and into the large pool. The men appear to be laughing and having fun, which backs up U.S. Ambassador to Libya Deborah Jones’ recent claims that the Islamist militia took control of the residential annex and that they are actually taking care of it.
“To my knowledge & per recent photos the US Embassy Tripoli chancery & compound is now being safeguarded and has not been ransacked,” wrote Jones on Twitter.
As reported by Opposing Views, the Islamist militia group Dawn of Libya announced this weekend that they had “secured” the Embassy and even invited onlookers inside for a tour. On July 26, U.S. diplomats evacuated the facility and went to a neighboring city once fighting started in the area.
