Former Fox News CEO and chairman Roger Ailes has died at the age of 77.

Journalist Matt Drudge broke the news on Twitter, confirming the media giant’s passing on May 18.

“Roger brought news to life," he tweeted, according to Mediaite. "A true American classic. So many stories..."

Ailes, who resigned from Fox News in July amid sexual harassment accusations, spoke of his health and eventual passing in his 2013 biography, saying that he felt he didn’t have long to live.

“My doctor told me that I’m old, fat, and ugly, but none of those things is going to kill me immediately,” he wrote in the book, the Daily Mail reports. “The actuaries say I have six to eight years. The best tables give me 10. Three thousand days, more or less. I’d give anything for another 10 years.”

Ailes reportedly struggled with hemophilia, prostate issues and several surgeries in recent years.

Ailes' wife mourned his passing in a statement.

“I am profoundly sad and heartbroken to report that my husband, Roger Ailes, passed away this morning,” Elizabeth Ailes’ statement read, The Hill reports.
