Bill Clinton Blames FBI, "Angry White Men" For Loss

| by Ray Brown

Former President Bill Clinton said Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 presidential election because of FBI Director James Comey and “angry white men.”

“James Comey cost her the election,” Clinton said at a bookstore in Ketonah, Connecticut, according to the Bedford-Pound Ridge Record Review.

Bill Clinton, who was doing some personal shopping at the independent bookshop, was asked if President-elect Donald Trump was “smart.”

“He doesn’t know much,” the former president said. “One thing he does know is how to get angry, white men to vote for him.”

This isn't the first time since Hillary Clinton's unexpected loss to Trump that the Clintons have directly blamed Comey.

On Oct. 28, Comey sent a letter to Congress that informed lawmakers new emails were uncovered that related to the ongoing investigation of Hillary Clinton's private email server.

And on Nov. 12, just four days after the election, Hillary Clinton said that letter was pivotal in her defeat.

“There are lots of reasons why an election like this is not successful,” Clinton said, according to the New York Times. But, she added, “our analysis is that Comey’s letter raising doubts that were groundless, baseless, proven to be, stopped our momentum.”

Although Bill Clinton cast blame on “angry white men,” Hillary Clinton failed to win white women voters too.

According to FiveThirtyEight, Trump beat Hillary Clinton among white women voters, 53 percent to 43 percent.

Among white women who don't have college degrees, Trump trounced Clinton 62 percent to 34 percent.
