Report: Barron Trump Brings Whole Class To White House

| by Lauren Briggs

Being the president's child has some perks, as Barron Trump's classmates learned when the first son reportedly took all fellow fifth-graders at his New York school on a field trip to the White House on May 10.

The 11-year-old and approximately 80 classmates traveled with their teachers and Secret Service agents, a source told Page Six. They stayed overnight at a Washington D.C. hotel before returning to the Upper West Side elementary school on May 11.

"Barron was really sweet," the source explained to Page Six. "He was so excited to show his classmates around the White House."

In the capital, the students ate a buffet lunch, toured the White House and then had the opportunity to meet Barron's parents, President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump.

"All the kids got dressed up: The girls were in dresses and the boys wore khaki pants and button-downs," added the source. "It was so cute ... President Trump gave them all a rousing speech about living up to your potential and being the best you could be for your country."

Barron is preparing to leave his home in New York City and transfer schools after he completes the school year. While his father and some other family members, including half-sister Ivanka Trump, moved to Washington D.C. in January, when the president was inaugurated, the first lady has remained in New York City with Barron until the summer.

In September, Barron will begin at his new school -- St. Andrew's, a private Episcopal institution in Potomac, Maryland, the first lady's press secretary confirmed on May 15.

"We are very excited for our son to attend St. Andrew's Episcopal School," Melania said in a May 15 statement, reports USA Today. "It is known for its diverse community and commitment to academic excellence. The mission of St. Andrew's is 'to know and inspire each child in an inclusive community dedicated to exceptional teaching, learning, and service,' all of which appealed to our family. We look forward to the coming school years at St. Andrew's."

St. Andrew's, which is expected to cost the Trump family somewhere around $40,000 per year, is approximately 20 miles away from the White House and describes itself as having a "joyful and supportive atmosphere, celebrating its students' diversity of interests, backgrounds and abilities and developing each child's potential in the 'four pillars' of academics, arts, athletics and spiritual life."
