Former First Ladies Barbara Bush and Laura Bush appeared on the "Today" show this morning to promote the newly-opened George W. Bush Presidential Center (video below).

During the interview, host Matt Lauer asked both women what they thought about Jeb Bush running for president in 2016. Jeb's mom axed the idea on the spot, reports Mediaite.com.

“He’s by far the best qualified man, but no,” said Barbara Bush. “I really don’t. I think it’s a great country. There are a lot of great families, and it’s not just four families or whatever. There are other people out there that are very qualified. We’ve had enough Bushes.”

“He’s the most qualified, but I don’t think he’ll run,” she added. “He’ll get all our enemies, half of our friends.”

However, former President George W. Bush said earlier this week that he encouraged his brother to "run," but added it was a "personal decision," reported WRAL.com.

President Bush did add that he thought a Jeb Bush-Hillary Clinton matchup in 2016 would be a "fantastic photo."

The George W. Bush Presidential Center, which includes the library, opened this week at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
