Even before Tuesdays election there has been some serious chatter in the state of Kentucky that actress, humanitarian and political activist Ashley Judd might be considering running against Republican Mitch McConnell for his Kentucky Senate  seat in 2014.

Ashley, the daughter of country music singer Naomi Judd and the half-sister of Wynonna Judd. While she is best known for an ongoing acting career spanning more than two decades, she has increasingly become involved in global humanitarian efforts and political activism. In a statement provided to the Louisville Courier-Journal on Thursday,  Judd did not rule out a potential challenge to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in 2014. Speculation is rife that Judd, a Kentucky native, could be the Democratic nominee against the vulnerable Minority Leader.

The statement:

I cherish Kentucky, heart and soul, and while I’m very honored by the consideration, we have just finished an election, so let’s focus on coming together to keep moving America’s families, and especially our kids, forward.
