A Tea Party group in Brevard, North Carolina held a controversial "machine gun social' to raise money for conservative candidates on Saturday.
Members of the tea party gave donations [from $25 to $50] to fire various machine guns, reports WLOS-TV (video below).

Tea Party member Rick Gilgis told WLOS-TV: "I believe in the many things that they are doing to try to keep America, ‘America’ with a capital 'A.' They are patriotic and they want to preserve the freedoms that we enjoy, that our forefathers envisioned many years ago when they wrote that invaluable, timeless document, the U.S. Constitution."
