Video: Pres. Obama Sings 'Let's Stay Together' to Al Green

Last night in New York City at Harlem’s Apollo Theater, President Obama began his speech to Democrat donors (incuding Al Green) by singing part of Al Green’s 1971 classic soul tune 'Let’s Stay Together' (video below).

“To know that the Rev. Al Green was here,” Obama said, pausing before singing “I-I-I-I… am so in love with you."

Obama pointed off stage and added: “Those guys didn’t think I would do it. I told you I was going to do it. The sandman did not come out.”

He then directed a comment to Al Green: "Don't worry Rev, I cannot sing like you, I just wanted to show my appreciation."

Obama is the first president to appear at the Apollo and is believed to have raised $3.1 million last night.
