Video: Rick Santorum Ad Features 'Mitt Romney' With Machine Gun

| by Michael Allen

In Michigan, GOP candidate Rick Santorum, who once promised to keep his campaign "positive," has launched a new 30 second ad that shows a Mitt Romney look-alike darting around a parking garage and firing mud from an automatic mud weapon at a cardboard cut-out of Santorum (video below).

The "Rombo" ad (a play on the film 'Rambo') includes a voiceover: "“Romney and his super PAC have spent a staggering $20 million brutally attacking fellow Republicans. Why? Because Romney’s trying to hide from his big-government RomneyCare, and his support for job-killing cap-and-trade.”

At this point the gun jams and spits out mud on the Romney look-alike's white shirt. “In the end, Mitt Romney’s ugly attacks will backfire,” the ad concludes.

Michigan had been considered favored for Romney, whose father George Romney served as governor of the state. Polls show Santorum and Romney even in Michigan, but Public Policy Polling has Santorum ahead by 15 points.
