Back in December 2011, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney had an awkward conversation with a gay U.S. veteran Bob Garon (video below).
Mitt Romney sat down at Garon's breakfast table for what he probably thought would be a positive photo-op at a campaign stop in New Hampshire.
The two men went back and forth on gay marriage, with Garon asking why he did not have the same constitutional rights with his partner as a straight couple, to which Romney answered: "No, actually, I think at the time the Constitution was written it was pretty clear that marriage is between a man and a woman. And I don't believe the Supreme Court has changed that."
Ironically, the two men were about the same age. Garon served in Vietnam, while Romney went to college and to France as a Mormon missionary.
