Video: Mitt Romney Says Bush Saved U.S. from Great Depression

On Wednesday, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney said at a town hall meeting in Maryland that President George W. Bush prevented the United States from entering an economic depression, not President Obama (video below).

Romney said: “I keep hearing the president say that he’s responsible for keeping America from going into a Great Depression. No, no no. That was President George W. Bush and Hank Paulson that stepped in and kept that from happening.”

Romney did not mention that the economy collapsed in September of 2008, while President Bush was still in office.
