Video: Janeane Garofalo Says GOP Women Have Stockholm Syndrome
Stand-up comedian, actress and political activist Janeane Garofalo appeared on 'Countdown with Keith Olbermann,' Wednesday night, to discuss the Tea Party, Herman Cain and female Republican candidates (video below).
Garofalo wondered aloud if female Republicans, including Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann, were “nuts” or” opportunists" or simply victims of “Stockholm syndrome,” which is when victims become loyal to their oppressors.
She also suggested that Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain "deflects the racism" of the Republicans and the Tea Party. She theorized that Cain was being paid to run by "someone" such as the Koch brothers or Karl Rove. The acid-tongued comic also accused Governor Rick Perry of being a "snake oil salesman" and mocked his recent appearances.
In 2009, Garofalo slammed the Tea Party movement on Olbermann's MSNBC show: "Let's be very honest about what this is about. It's not about bashing Democrats, it's not about taxes, they have no idea what the Boston tea party was about, they don't know their history at all. This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up. That is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks."
