Video: GOP Audience Cheers Gov. Chris Christie's Recollection of Fired Union Workers

| by Michael Allen

Yesterday, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) gave a speech at the Ronald Reagan Library, where those in attendance cheered when he recalled how President Reagan fired unionized air traffic controllers in 1981.

Christie said: "In August 1981, the air traffic controllers, in violation of their contracts, went on strike. President Reagan ordered them back to work, making clear that those who refused would be fired. In the end, thousands refused, and thousands were fired."

Republicans have recently cheered Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s execution record, booed a gay soldier at a GOP debate and cheered the idea of allowing a sick man die instead of providing him with health care.
