One of the debunked Republican talking points has popped again this week thanks to GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney. On Monday, during his debate with President Obama, Romney claimed the president had gone on an "apology tour," which President Obama immediately denied.
That didn't stop former Sen. Jim Talent (R-MO), an adviser to Romney, from claiming that President Obama went on an "apology tour" during an interview with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell (video below), reports RawStory.com.
Mitchell asked Talent about Romney changing his foreign policy positions during the debate.
Talent said: “Let’s just be fair for a second. I think the president is modifying his positions to come closer to Gov. Romney’s, and by the way, to come closer to the mainstream of American foreign policy. He goes and does an apology tour. And then last night he denies it was an apology tour.”
Mitchell interrupted: “Excuse me, Senator. I have fact checked the so-called ‘apology tour’ and it just didn’t happen.”
Over on Fox and Friends, the hosts claimed that President Obama went on an "apology tour," but then aired a clip that made no mention of it, reports MediaMatters.org.
