Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann appeared stunned Sunday after an 8-year-old South Carolina boy named Elijah told the congresswoman that his gay mother, Lola, didn’t “need any fixing" (video below).
Bachmann was signing her memoir 'Core of Conviction' at a Myrtle Beach Books-A-Million when Elijah stepped forward.
“You said it, but I think my ears were too far away,” Bachmann told the boy as she leaned over the table.
“Ms. Bachmann, my mommy’s gay but she doesn’t need any fixing,” Elijah whispered into her ear.
Bachmann stood up with her wide eyes glaring at the mother. “Bye, bye,” she waived.
On the YouTube video, the mother wrote: “Video of Michele Bachmann trying to get her photo op in with my 8 year old son. It’s hard to hear but he leans in and tells her that his mom is gay and she doesn’t need fixing. GO ELIJAH! Love that look of shock she gets.
“We were there for an Occupy Myrtle Beach event to mic check Michele Bachmann on another issue. The lgbt issue came up separately. (sic)”
