U.S. Iraq Veteran Tammy Duckworth Defeats Rep. Joe Walsh

U.S. Iraq Veteran Tammy Duckworth defeated Tea Party Republican Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL). who once claimed Duckworth wasn’t a "true hero."

CNN called the race at 10:30 pm EST with 53 percent of state precincts reporting.

Duckworth, a U.S. Army veteran, lost both of her legs while serving in Iraq eight years ago.

Rep. Walsh accused Duckworth, who was also Assistant Secretary for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from 2009 to 2011, of attempting to “muddy the water” with her military service, reports RawStory.com.

Rep. Walsh is currently having his congressional wages garnished because of his failure to pay child support.
