Ron Paul: Donald Trump's Debate "Clown-Like"

| by Mark Berman Opposing Views

Ron Paul is not mincing words about Donald Trump's proposed Republican presidential debate, and Trump is not holding back about his feelings for Paul.

Trump wants to host a debate in Iowa, but so far only Newt Gingrich has agreed to take part. Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday, Paul called the debate "clown-like," and said he doesn't understand why Republicans take Trump seriously.

"I don’t quite understand the marching to his office," Paul said about several candidates making pilgrimages to see Trump in New York. “I didn't realize he had the ability to lay on hands and anoint people.”

In response, Trump told the New York Daily News, “Few people take Ron Paul seriously and many of his views and presentation make him a clown-like candidate. I am glad he and Jon Huntsman (who also declined), who has inconsequential poll numbers or a chance of winning, will not be attending the debate and wasting the time of the viewers who are trying very hard to make a very important decision."
