'Rock the Slut Vote' Campaign Attacks Republicans and Rush Limbaugh

| by Michael Allen

Susan McMillan Emry recently created an online effort against Republicans and Rush Limbaugh called 'Rock the Slut Vote.'

Limbaugh used the word "slut" in February when he called Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke a "slut," after she was banned from a Republican Congressional hearing on contraceptives.

Emry said: "It's really about taking the power away from that word more than it is about Rush Limbaugh. He gave the word the notoriety but we are trying to take it back. If the GOP thinks that throwing the word 'slut' at us at this point is going to silence women they have another thing coming."

"Originally my intention wasn't so much to try to have a platform as to be able to find a voice myself through the website. It was good for me personally because I felt so much outrage."

Emry also cited Susan G. Komen Foundation's decision to cut Planned Parenthood funding (which they recanted) and several states restricting to abortions and contraceptives as her inspiration to create the web site.
