Rick Perry Leads Obama in Latest Presidential Poll

A new poll says that if the presidential election were to be held today, not only would people be caught by surprise, Rick Perry would be the next President of the United States.

The Rasmussen Reports survey released on Thursday shows Perry beating Obama 44%-41% in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup.

Obama would beat the rest of the field -- Mitt Romney 43%-39%, Michele Bachmann 46%-38% and Hermain Cain 42%-35%.

In typical fashion, they didn't even bother asking voters about Ron Paul.

Perhaps even more troubling for President Obama is that a generic GOP candidate beats him also, and by a larger margin, 48%-40%.

However, these polls must be taken with a grain of salt. A Quinnipiac University poll released yesterday had Obama tied with Romney and beating Perry.

The only poll that counts will take place on November 6, 2012.
