Republican Congressman Richard Hanna Says the GOP is 'Incapable of Governing'
Republican Congressman Richard Hanna (R-NY) recently slammed his own party for going after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's aide Huma Abedin.
Rep. Michele Bachmann, also a Republican, has claimed that Abedin has ties to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and should be investigated.
While Sen. John McCain slammed Bachmann, many Republicans have come to her defense, including Newt Gingrich and Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX).
Rep. Hanna told The Post-Standard: “I have to say that I’m frustrated by how much we, I mean the Republican Party, are willing to give deferential treatment to our extremes in this moment in history... we render ourselves incapable of governing when all we do is take severe sides."
"Iif all people do is go down there and join a team, and the team is invested in winning and you have something that looks very similar to the shirts and the skins, there’s not a lot of value there…I would say that the friends I have in the Democratic Party I find … much more congenial, a little less anger."

At what point did the focus
At what point did the focus of all things politics change from "we need to make sure we're doing the best thing for the country and the world" to "we need to make sure that we're opposing everything the other party says and does, regardless of how bad that makes things for the country and the world"?
Disagreeing on a topic has shifted from "that idea isn't going to work and we should come up with a different way of doing it" to "that's a terrible idea and you're a terrible person for having it"? Could this be because so many of our (hah!) politicians are being paid by corporations and PACs (super or otherwise) to do things that are not in the interest of the majority of the citizens, nor for humanity at large?
Ron Paul, Chris Christy,
Ron Paul, Chris Christy, Richard Hanna. One of these guys should have the GOP ticket.
What is the definition of a
What is the definition of a true Republican? Compare the actual vs the glamorized version of previous Republican Presidents. If Reagan and Nixon are the standard of who a Republican is, then Bachman is a RINO.
America's enemy, the fanatical Al-Queda translates to "The Base". Some political parties are pandering to their fanatical base. Are political parties America's enemies?
Instead of identifying yourself, others or an idea as liberal or conservative, how about discussing whether it is a good idea? Why limit your thinking?
Question Authority, Anarchy & Assumptions
dotkhan, you are exactly
dotkhan, you are exactly correct. The true RINOs are those in the far-out extremist right wing. As a former Republican - an extension of a long line of Repubicans in my family - the wack-job extremists have simply copped the Republican label as their own. Traditional Republicans I know, including my die-hard Republican father - are disgusted with today's do-nothing "Republican" party.
I'm a former Republican and I
I'm a former Republican and I agree the GOP has lost their way and hopefully guys like Rich Hanna can bring them back. When the GOP says their number one objective it to make Obama a one term president in 2009 when the sky is falling I knew then these are not my guys. When they try and repeal Obamacare with no alternative plan in hand, not my guys.
ross80477 Again you believe
ross80477 Again you believe wrong. Too much trouble to actually remember if he actually said it? John McCain may disagree politically with the Democrats, but he still treats them respect and he doesn't make blind accusations. Too bad more of that isn't going around on BOTH sides.
NY RINOS - What really can
NY RINOS - What really can anyone expect. Soon we can expect a RINO-ectomy. I believe that I have heard that McRino make similar statements.
Huma Abedin is married to
Huma Abedin is married to Anthony Weiner, or at least she was. Bachmann is way out of line. She is a conspiracy hack. She was the one who during the debates went after Gov. Perry for requiring the Gardasil, claiming it caused retardation. He distortions run the gamut from the ACA to American history. She is well known for saying that the ACA would require ALL Americans to pay an additional tax when they sell a house, when in actuality it is a capital gains surcharge that applies only to those people selling VERY expensive homes. This is truly a 1% issue, but she made it sound like it affected every homeowner.
I could go on... but Bachmann is a liar full of hyperbole and misinformaiton.
Questioning Abedin is absurd. To work for Clinton, she had to have a background any further investigation is pure harassment. The republicans who called out Bachmann were right on target. Everyone regardless of your politics should see this for what it is - the muslim equivalent of McCarthy style red baiting.
What we can expect is the
What we can expect is the death of what is currently the Republican party They have essentially blown off the 2012 election by not presenting any candidate who is not an obvious nut case. The GOP should not invest another dime in this election and save their resources to find someone who can defeat Hilary in 2016. BHO is doing a good job for them anyway. What has he changed from "W"?
James, agreed. But you also
James, agreed. But you also left out the fact that the GOP is also shrinking; not just marginalizing itself.
The GOP is determined to alienate anyone who is not an angry, white man...and still try to win elections.
Las Vegas oddsmakers have Obama up 57.3% to Romney 39% for what it's worth. Plus, Obama leads in all 12 swing states by margins of 4 to 8.
But here is what all you should be thinking:
If the economy is truly #1 issue: WHY ISN'T ROMNEY KICKING OBAMA'S ASS BY DOUBLE DIGITS RIGHT NOW??? Think about it. If Obama is really, truly hated and he is the goat of the economy, why has been leading the whole time? Either the economy is NOT the #1 issue OR people hate Romney. My guess, is that it's the latter; not the former.
With all of this money the GOP and the Koch Brothers and Karl Rove and all of that republican Citizen's United money, kicking in: ROMNEY IS STILL NOT LEADING AND THE ECONOMY IS NOT 'GETTING BETTER'.
Republicans have a MAJOR problem. The economy and unemployment is not getting better, but Romney can't take Obama out!
I am also in agreement,
I am also in agreement, there.
The economy IS #1 priority, but the problem is that when they crunch the numbers, they find that, even though the GOP majority Congress has neither proposed or created a single jobs bill or tax cuts for the poor and increases for those who make more than 1/4 million a year, there has still been some small progress in jobs.
Just think of how good things would be if the GOP had actually tried to work together with the Democrats and, at the very least, tried to help the economy. Maybe, if they had, they would look less extreme and more desirable to the people that they are currently trying to screw over.
Under the plan that the GOP loves, and has had since Bush Jr., has not helped the country one bit. The GOP is complaining that unemployment is over 8%, yet, under Bush, it peaked at just over 24%, so the economy is getting better, in spite of the Congressional GOP party politicking, treasonous obstructionism.
The top 1% has had tax breaks for more than 10 years, so the question still remains to be answered: "where are the jobs?". If only the GOP would be willing to answer that and, for once, come clean and answer us honestly, like a couple have recently done regarding the ACTUAL reasons behind the latest voter laws.
On the up side, it gives me hope when Congressmen come out and denounce the extremists for what they are. Now, all they need do is purge them from the party.
The insanity principle is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. The far right, the far left, vegans, creationists and other extremists believe in the insanity principle, religiously.
I agree. That's why I say
I agree. That's why I say the Republicans should just forget this election and save their resources for rebuilding the party and finding a candidate who is not bat-shit crazy that might defeat Hilary in 2016.
But all of that wouldn't please the neo-con religious reich and they are firmly in control of the GOP now and they will crash and burn, taking the entire conservative faction with them. They would rather do that than give up their control. After all, they're "doing god's work."
Please do not offend EVERY
Please do not offend EVERY Christian by your statement of "...god's work"! God's work is all that matters and He has His eye on you. Just remember...He owns the lightning!
"God will not be mocked!"
How typical of a
How typical of a bible-thumping christian to resort to threats of "god's retribution."
There is no god. I know that and can prove it. Can you prove there is a god, any god?
Christians never worry about offending anyone else. Your smug arrogance is an affront to every rational person.
Remember, I own facts and rational reasoning. Against those things, no religion can stand.
Your "god" cannot be mocks as he does not exist. What is being mocked are your irrational, willfully ignorant beliefs.
No, I do not "hate god." How can you hate what does not and never has existed? Do you hate the Easter Bunny for giving children candy and making their teeth rot?
May God have mercy on your
May God have mercy on your soul; and by the looks of your picture you might find out in the not-too-distant future the error of your "fact[ual] and rational" ways. Remember, a closed mind gathers no knowledge!
PS I have yet to "thump" a Bible (whatever the heck that means)! And certainly there are no "threats of 'god's [sic] retribution'". He actually made a PROMISE! Christians warn the misinformed because we care much more than the typical fence-sitting human about our fellow man.
Get your deities straight,
Get your deities straight, Thor has control of the lightning.
You're right. I wish I had
You're right. I wish I had thought of that. Thor might exist. We can see lightning and hear thunder. On top of that he did rid the world of Ice Giants. Seen any of those? Maybe Thor does exist? Well, not where I live, we sometimes go years without a thunderstorm. :D
Oh Rossy, boo-hoo. When a
Oh Rossy, boo-hoo.
When a Republican calls another Republican a RINO, he immediately broadcasts that he, the accuser, is a member of the far right ultra-radical extremist do-nothing sector of the "party," what remains of the so-called Republican party, that is.
The RINO label is automatically and instantaneously applied to anybody who is not in the 0.00001 percentile of the far right extremist viewpoint of the "party" as far as policy views are concerned (and that means EVERY policy or issue; subscription to all but one viewpoint is unacceptable), and to anybody who even entertains the idea (something the far right has none of) of working with various viewpoints to achieve progress.
Frankly, the far right ultra radical extremist do-nothing sector of Republicans are the true RINOs - they've simply copped the party as their own and marginalize anybody who does not march to the beat of the 0.00001 percentile of ultra extremism.
I come from a long line of Republicans, going back generations. I WAS a Republican. My parents WERE Republicans, and the fact that my father - a conservative Republican in the traditional meaning of the word, who is still alive, is disgusted with Republicans, is saying something.
