Newt Gingrich's Very Un-GOP Immigration Plan Could Doom Him

Newt Gingrich stunned conservative viewers during a debate Tuesday night by laying out an immigration plan that goes against everything the Republican party stands for.

Many in the GOP just want to kick illegal aliens out of the country. Gingrich's plan would allow people who have been here for decades to stay here legally without necessarily giving them citizenship, while he would deport those who have been here for a short time and don't have family or other ties to the country.

Gingrich explains:

It is a compassionate plan that has drawn anger from the far right and could be the undoing of Newt Gingrich, as Buzz 60's Jay DeDapper reports:

The only ones mad at Newt are the liberals who had their mental image popped by a guy that is not their idea of conservative. It is kind of sad.

First, start with a premise that is incorrect, such as "all conservatives want all illegals to be kicked out of the country," then make a bold statement such as, "All conservatives are angry with Newt." Never mind that the entire premise is stupid, as is your saying that we are angry with the guy for being compassionate. Look, I want the drug trade from Mexico to stop. I want the illegals to get the proper paperwork and follow the laws when they wish to come to our country - not come in as criminals. But if someone has come to our country, followed our rules, paid taxes and been a good citizen for ten or more years, then I am FAR more willing to allow them a path to gain citizenship than someone with multiple arrests.

Blanket amnesty is not going to work, it must be a process that is as tedious and thought out as their initial entry was wrong.

What is never talked about is that for every illegal that comes to our country, that is one LEGAL ALIEN that cannot.

And BTW, if you don't make stupid statements like the ones you make about conservatives, then you won't get smacked by the readers. (or ignored)

Don't worry, if it's simple ignorance, we can fix that;

I never said "all conservatives." What I wrote was: "Many in the GOP just want to kick illegal aliens out of the country." This is correct -- "many" in the GOP do want to kick them out. And I never wrote anything like "All conservatives are angry with Newt." I did write that it "has drawn anger from the far right," which is also correct. If you are going to put something in quotes please get it right.

Since it would also be correct to say that any loyal citizen who knows what American Sovereignty means to their liberty will not stand for illegal aliens jumping ahead in line of everyone else who waits their turn, then it is logical to conclude the residents who don't mind aliens here illegally have ulterior political motives or are simply incapable for their own governance.

Using a term like "many," as strong connotations. It may say many, but it implies a majority in todays valicular, and I don't think it is correct in that context. A few, a tiny few, possibly, would like to see every illegal deported, but I would steer clear of that man.

I am very much against illegal immigration, as it is a crime. But at the same time, I am more agaisnt illegal criminals than illegals who would liek to live and work here if they were given a way to immigrate and corrrect their crimes - and feel that MOST of the GOP would feel the same way.

Sadly, most of the liberal media thinks and reports that this is not the norm, and I would even venture to say that after watching the news a few times, that the portrayal of the average GOP member is a redneck with a shotgun and a daughter with missing teeth. It's not right to be attacked by stereotypes, and waht seems like constant reporting of "what we are like," as opposed to what we ARE really like - which is people scared for the future of our nation.

What I would like to ask you is to find that GOP member tht wants to eject every illegal from our country - then see if he is a GOP member, or a conservative that is playing republican to give us a bad name.

"It is a compassionate plan that has drawn anger from the far right and could be the undoing of Newt Gingrich".

The entire country had to stand up against Bush, McCain, Reid and Pelosi to stop their Shamnesty bill so, how did this issue become the property of the 'far right'??

The truth will set you free! (And create a lot less stress on the patriots who are capable for their own governance.)
