Newt Gingrich's Gay Half-Sister Candace Gingrich-Jones Supports Obama
When you can't count on your own family to vote for you, how do you think you'll fare with the rest of the country? -- Newt Gingrich's gay half-sister says she is supporting President Obama.
It all has to do with Gingrich's views on gay rights, said Candace Gingrich-Jones.
"He is definitely on the wrong side of history when it comes to those issues," Gingrich-Jones told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, according to a Reuters report.
Not only will she pull the lever for Obama, Gingrich-Jones said she will "work really, really hard to make sure that President Obama is re-elected next year no matter who the Republican candidate is."
Gingrich-Jones, 45, is in a position to do just that -- she is the director of the gay advocacy group Human Rights Campaign.
Gingrich has come out against gay marriage and Gingrich-Jones said her brother proved how serious his opposition is by refusing to attend her wedding.
She said overall the siblings, who share the same mother, are "mutually respectful" to each other. Sounds like a great relationship.
