New Low for Republicans: Tea Party Audience Cheers Dead Americans
During the Tea Party Express Republican primary debate, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer posed a hypothetical question to Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul about a 30-year-old man who was in a coma but did not have health care insurance. Blitzer asked who should pay for his health care.
“What he should do is whatever he wants to do,” Paul replied. “That’s what freedom is all about, taking your own risks. This whole idea that you have to prepare to take care of everybody...”
“Are you saying society should just let him die?” Blitzer asked.
The audience responded with shouts of “Yes!”
“We’ve given up on this concept that we might take care of ourselves, assume responsibility for ourselves, our neighbors, our friends, our churches would do it,” Paul explained. “This is the reason the cost is so high… We have lack of competition. There’s no competition in medicine. Everybody’s protected by licensing ”

Point is, we have to get away from this concept that government should pay for everything. We have $14 trillion dollars in debt because politicians have created a cradle to grave mentality and keep promising to do more for us. We are losing the idea of self responsibility. The humanity factor is immaterial anyway because it's not Constitutional to force someone to buy something under the Commerce Clause.
I know that health insurance is too expensive for most people to buy outside of their employer based coverage, and that a lot of rich people don't carry it because they just pay cash. However, you can't violate the Constitution just because it creates a liberal utopia. I don't want that liberal utopia that has government neck deep in our health care. Come up with another Constitutional solution that doesn't give government so much control and power.
