A letter sent by the group Citizens United, with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's signature, says the day President Obama was sworn into office is “the day the country started going to pot” and "President Obama has surrounded himself with morally repugnant political whores with misshapen values and gutter-level ethics."
Huckabee has worked in the past with the Citizens United Victory Fund, and the letterhead lists the same address as the fund.
However, Huckabee told Politico.com that he had not approved the letter that went out with his signature, finds it "repulsive" and was demanding that the letter be "pulled."
Citizens United's spokesman, Jeff Marschner, retracted an initial denial that the group had sent the letter, but then said: "Neither Governor Huckabee nor Dave Bossie, President of Citizens United, approved the language presented and used in the fundraising letter that was sent out as a test to a small number of people."
"Both have taken corrective action to make sure that this does not happen again. It is language that is beneath Governor Huckabee and Dave Bossie and language that they would not use."
