Infographic: How the Banks Bought off the Tea Party

| by Michael Allen

In 2010, 15 freshmen Republican representatives in the House Tea Party Caucus each ran on a populist anti-Wall Street message, opposing bank bailouts such as the 2008 Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).

After winning, however, all 15 received PAC contributions from the banking industry and have towed the line for big banks. 11 of the 15 have become co-sponsors of H.R. 3461, a bill that would give regulation responsibilities to the banks themselves.
