Gun Rights Groups Outspend Gun Control Groups by 25 Times in D.C.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, advocates for gun rights, such as the National Rifle Association (NRA), have spent about 25 times the amount of money lobbying in Washington D.C. than gun control supporters since 2009.

The NRA, alone, spent $17.4 million on lobbying Congress and the Department of the Interior, which comes to about $5 million per year.

Besides lobbying, the NRA donated about $2.8 million to state and federal politicians in the past 3 years and has already spent $60,000 on ads attacking President Obama during this election.

Republican politicians who are the top beneficiaries of the NRA, include House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), Sen. John Thune (R-SD), and Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV).
