Don't Minimize Obama's 'Fast and Furious' Guns Scandal

The elite media are at it again. They're trying to downplay the Operation Fast and Furious scandal that has rocked the Obama administration, and they're using the scandal to push the same tired calls for more gun control laws.

The Washington Post, for example, which has largely ignored the scandal, ran a front page story recently, but made sure to quote anonymous Obama administration officials who praised the gunrunning strategy and claimed it was "unfair" for Congress to investigate. And the newspaper's recent editorial quoted an ATF agent who believes that we need more gun laws, but ignored Congressional testimony of other agents who said all the gun laws we need are already on the books.

The Post also continues to report on the scandal as if the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was the only agency involved in Operation Fast and Furious. Instead, we now know that DEA, ICE, FBI and even the IRS had knowledge of the program. High-ranking officials at the Justice Department were aware of the program, and ATF official Bill Newell testified before the House Oversight Committee that he had also talked with a National Security Council staffer about the operation.

Thankfully, there's at least one media outlet where you can get the truth about Operation Fast and Furious: NRANews.com. From interviews with members of Congress and newsmakers to the most complete coverage of the House Oversight Committee hearings anywhere, NRANews.com is shining a light on the biggest scandal of the Obama administration, even while the media elites carry the administration's water.

Operation Fast and Furious was illegal. It allowed known straw buyers to purchase arms and then move them into another nation. That broke international laws regarding gunrunning. That nation was not informed of the operation. The BATFE had no means of tracking those weapons in Mexico. The only way those weapons woud be traced would be as a result of thier showing up in a crime and Mexican authorities using the BATFE's Etrace system to verify the US as country of origin. What kind of idiotic plan is that? The BATFE knew that there was no way they could trace or track those guns untill AFTER they were used in a crime, so the BATFE knowingly aided and abetted criminal actions for what purpose? To prove that the drug cartels were gun running? We knew that, we know that the weapons they use are illegally obtained, not just from the US but from other sources as well. Drug cartels get weapons from many sources, and the majority of the weapons they use are true military grade weapons. Contrary to popular opinion in anti gun circles, one cannot get full auto weapons at a gunshow or through the average US gun store. The military hardware the cartels are using are known to come from Central and South American countries with large stashes of former USSR supplied weapons and from Africa from the same source. In addition, many Mexican police officers and soldiers have defected to the cartels, taking their weapons with them. Mexico's real problem is a corrupt government system that rewards those with the most power. So what was the point of Fast and Furious? Could it really be that the point was to give some weight to the idea the the cartels were using weapons illegally purchased in the US in a effort to reinstate something like the assault weapon ban? Could it be that this administrations real goal was to make political fodder for an anti-constitutional agenda? All that said the question remains, will anyone stand up and hold this administration accountable for their illegal actions in operation Fast and Furious. The media in this country have had a long affair with the antigun campaign in this nation. I'd not look to them to make an issue of it.

What else would anyone expect from the Washington Post? Or, for that matter from any other liberal newspaper in the U.S., which includes about 98% of all those published here.

It is a both a mistake and naive to place the blame for media corruption on one political party. To any thinking American it is obvious that the media and the content of its news is controlled by huge corporations and that those corporations are investing huge amounts of money to whichever political party is most amenable to the corporate agenda. Consequently the news (or what passes for news) selectively promotes the biased views of one political party or the other. Both the Democrats and the Republicans are involved in this game. Please don't allow yourself to point fingers without adequately and thoroughly thinking this through. We live in very dangerous times folks. The very Republic we all love is under attack from those in power, both political and economic (the big corporations).

Of course the liberal run media is doing their best to downplay this major scandal. If it were a Republican in the white house, these mongrels would be out for blood. They cant help but expose themselves for the biased garbage they are.

How do we impeach the media? First, write to the sponcers who pay for advertizing. Tell them you will not buy their products if they continue to support this. Second, write to the TV stations and news papers, tell them you wrote to their sponcers and why. This economic presure can be very intense.

arg....double post.

I think that it's a huge deal. This idea killed people that wouldn't have died if it weren't for this stupid idea.

Haha, if only. They should be easily called out as they lie.
