Planned Parenthood Sues Missouri Over "Personhood" Initiative

ST. LOUIS, MO -- Planned Parenthood sued the State of Missouri this week to challenge two pro-life ballot initiatives, in an apparent effort to stifle the people's constitutional right to the ballot process.

One of the ballot initiatives, submitted by Personhood Missouri, states, "Section 35, Person defined. As used in sections 2, 10, and 14 of Article I of the state constitution, the term "person" shall apply to every human being from the beginning of the biological development of that human being."

The personhood amendment, along with another pro-life initiative, were both approved by Secretary of State Democrat Robin Carnahan on October 20th. An amendment much like this one was introduced in Colorado and found to be a single-subject issue, approved by the Colorado State Supreme Court. The Planned Parenthood lawsuit claims that the Missouri personhood amendment did not warn voters of the legal and constitutional fallout if the ballot measure passes.

"The legal and constitutional 'fallout' of a Missouri Personhood amendment, is that all humans in the state of Missouri have human rights," stated Keith Mason, of Personhood USA. "All humans are people, and must be protected."

According to the law, it is not required or necessary for ballot initiative proposers to outline every possible legal scenario if an amendment is passed.

"Our amendment is easy to understand, and simply protects all humans from their biological beginning," stated Dr. Gregory Thompson, initiative sponsor. "The Planned Parenthood lawsuit was quoted in several newspapers as incorrectly using the term, 'fertilized egg'. In fact, at the moment of biological beginning, the newly formed human being is not an egg at all, but a unique individual person."

This lawsuit will cost taxpayers additional funds and use valuable government resources, pointed out Dr. Thompson. He continued to say, "The very organization that uses tax dollars to cause the deaths of millions of innocent human beings and many mothers, along with years of physical, mental, and spiritual pain, is now using government resources again to keep this issue from going to the voters."

"The motivation of Planned Parenthood is highly suspect. This lawsuit addresses a concern about loss of funds, yet Planned Parenthood reportedly brought in over 10 million dollars in 2008 in Missouri alone, and over a billion dollars nationwide," continued Mason. "This is clearly an act of desperation by a billion dollar industry, seeking to keep the issue of Personhood away from the people of Missouri."

Among other things, "the beginning of the biological development" starts with cells dividing to form sperm and ova. You can't "begin" without that. Next you have the issue that birth control pills do not prevent fertilization, but rather prevent a fertilized ova from taking root.

Those issues aside, our Supreme Court has already ruled, over and over again, that women have a protected right not to have their bodies taken over by life threatening parasites against their will.

So, what if some group of clowns started an initiative to allow slavery, executions without trial, torture to obtain confessions, poll taxes on minorities, or any other reprehensible act in clear violation of the US Constitution?

These are not people who respect constitional rights, but fascists who would force their will on others in a manner that would make Hitler proud. They are perverted sexual deviants who hate America and would force their twisted opinions about sex on the rest of the world.

Mr. Reed might want to get the facts straight, The supreme Court never refered to an unborn child as a life threatening parasite as he so hatefully calls them. In fact if he goes back & reads Roe v Wade, he will find out that the whole decision made it clear that if the unborn child is recognized as a human being then he/she would have the right to live & abortion would cease to be a "right".

A fetus is a parasite, by definition. It feeds off its host and diminishes the host's ability to survive. It causes its host terrible pain and permantly disfigures its host. All too often the host dies as a result.

Where do the so called " pro life " crowd come in on a woman's right to life after being infected by such a parasite? Quite obviously they don't. In fact, the so called "pro life" crowd openly endorses rape , believing any woman attacked by a rapist should be forced to bear the offspring of rapists.

The 15 year old girl recently gang raped in California must have had the "pro life" crowd absolutely drooling at the prospect of forcing the innocent victim of the attack to bear the offspring of the scum of the earth.

At the core of the pro lifers belief system is a perverted and twisted view of human sexuality. They don't see giving birth as a blessed event of those ready, willing and able to raise a family, but as a form of divine punishment for engaging in sex in the first place.

Very sick.

Since a parasite and it's host are always different species, a fetus (Latin for baby ) can't be a parasite - that is a biological fact. Only rapists endorse rape . To use rape as a justification for abortion is a really weak argument because very few abortions are sought because of rape. Adoption is a viable option. Plain and simple - abortion is the only legal contract killing. If it's not alive then you aren't pregnant. People have sex for 2 reasons: to have children and to enjoy a sensual experience. It's tragic when any species kills it's own offspring. Those using the "It's my body, my choice" should consider what Kathy Ireland (who used to be prochoice) said in response to that arguement: If the baby is a boy, does the woman have a penis?
No. The baby has it's own body, brain, arms, legs, and organs. It's a genetically, biologically unique being within it's mother 's body. Abortion is legal, so was slavery. That didn't make slavery right. Think about it.

It is with grief that I read the above comments. 1)How sad to read people refering to an unborn child as a parasite that kills its host. There is so much dislike and anger towards an innocent member of our race that shocks. What makes this innocent child become such an enemy? Is the fact that he/she is not exactly convenient deserving of the hatred displayed?
2)It is equally shocking to read the disgusting statement that the pro life crowd endorses rape and drools at the possiblitities. Nothing could be further from the truth. No pro life in their right mind approves of such attrocities.
3)The twisted view of human sexuality is not from those who want to protect human life, but rather brought on by those that believe they can have sexual relations without consequences. The fact that the consequences are so serious, ought to make one think and plan before entering into sexual intercourse. A baby is not a form of divine punishment, on the contrary, God said that children were a gift from God. What you do with that gift is your responsability. Remember that sex was God's idea in the first place and as everything He does it is good, when it is done in its proper content between a man and his wife.

I won't add anything in response to your's and the following poster's endorsements of rape , as I've already expressed by view on that point and your responses openly admit you believe any rapist should be allowed to breed any woman they are able to take by force.

Perhaps you should seek professional help, although I gather even the pros have trouble turning around sexual predators, such as yourselves.

Thank you for the article. After reading it I realized that out of 100,000 pregnancies, there were only 12 deaths . Amazing since the deaths include botched abortions.
Of the 50 million abortions in the US,"Actual percentage of U.S. abortions in "hard cases" are estimated as follows: in cases of rape or incest, 0.3%; in cases of risk to maternal health or life, 1%; and in cases of fetal abnormality, 0.5%. About 98% of abortions in the United States are elective, including socio-economic reasons or for birth control. This includes about 25% for primarily economic reasons."
98% of 50,000 abortions is 49,000,000 babies killed for other reasons than rape and incest. What about that issue?
