Things on the New Zealand set of Peter Jackson‘s Hobbit films seem to be moving along nicely. Recently, it was confirmed that Orlando Bloom would be reprising his role of Legolas the Elf in the upcoming prequel, and now titles and release dates for the two part feature have been announced. It’s a good day in Hobbiton.

The J.R.R. Tolkien Novels for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit, are worldwide best sellers, and the motion pictures for the Lord of the Rings were an outstanding success. Can writer/director Peter Jackson, pull another hit out of his hat?

The Hobbit Part 1 will be subtitled ‘An Unexpected Journey‘ and the second part will be called ‘There and Back Again‘.

There and Back Again was the name of the journal that the main character Bilbo Baggins kept.

Production is currently underway in New Zealand with all major character roles having been filled.

Expect Part One to hit theaters for December 14th 2012, with the second installment following a year later on December 13th 2013.

I can’t wait!
