PETA Protests Westminster Dog Show in NYC

It's a fact: the Westminster Dog Show aggravates the already dire animal overpopulation crisis and contributes to the deaths of homeless animals by encouraging people to buy purebred dogs from breeders and pet stores. That's why PETA's Grim Reaper showed up on Monday to usher in the dark event:
This year, dedicated PETA supporters gathered outside the dog show to tell passersby that Madison Square Garden should be the final resting place for Westminster—and that keeping shelter dogs out of early graves is as easy as choosing to adopt from a worthy rescue group rather than buying from a breeder.

Wow. What a bunch of kill joys! So typical of a left wing extremist group to want to keep other people from enjoying their hobbies! Showing dogs is fun for both man and beast! If you have never shown, how dare you make judgements! I love beef, eggs, milk, cheese, wool and leather. Oh! I must be a horrible person. PETA and H$U$ want to do away with animal enslavement, which is how they view the use of animals for ANYTHING! Did you know that AR's have been known to release dogs at AKC shows as part of their "protests"? My favorite breeder will be at Westminster with one of my dog's littermates. They had best not be caught near her animals or they will find themselves sliced and diced! Wow, what a world we live in- the time honored traditions of agriculture and animal husbandry being denounced by a bunch of twit heads! Too many people growing up in cities I suppose.
Just an FYI for all you about these so called animal rights groups. The HSUS seized 25 horses in Arkansas claiming the animals were standing in mud. They failed to mention that the animals were on large acreage and had "chosen" to stand in the mud. None of the horses had thrush - scratches - or rot ( if you are an animal person you will know what these conditions are) It was not a case of the owner forcing these horses to stand in a tiny muddy area. The horses were seized and kept in far worse living conditions than the owner was providing. Then there was a group of PETA radicals who released several horses out of their stalls at a horse show - many of the loose horses were injured. These are prime examples of how you ignorant misinformed animal rights idiots know nothing about the animals and their care and end up hurting the animals you "proclaim" to be protecting. This has nothing to do with the animals - this has to do with a group of misfits finding radical animal rights groups the only place where they can feel accepted. Much like a cult.
All of you "animal lovers" who criticize PETA for their euthanasia policy...please take a hard look in the mirror. While PETA may "kill" animals out of mercy, you are killing animals for your own PLEASURE every single day at every single meal.

PETA co-founder Ingrid Newkirk states "A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy ." Equalizing the rat with the pig with boy in terms of value and in terms of having rights. However, "PETA’s “Animal Record” report for 2008, filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, shows that the animal rights group killed 95 percent of the dogs and cats in its care last year. During all of 2008, PETA found adoptive homes for just seven pets " ( http://www.petakillsanimals.com /). Should we follow this lunatics path and kill homeless people so they don't suffer out on the street? How can these people believe that they have the right to choose which species are expendable? Plants do react to being cut or killed. Just because we don't visualize the reaction doesn't mean there isn't one. On a molecular level, plants react in much the same way as to animals in response to "painful" stimuli. So maybe we should all eat just fungi. ?? I have to say, I OWN 4 dogs, two cats and one big goldfish. They are my property. But I also have a responsibility to treat them properly. I love my pets, but if I had to choose my dog or my child , there wouldn't be a hesitation. I think PETA needs to refocus. We are the human beings here and we have a responsibilty to act like human beings. Eating pork or tofu has nothing to do with that responsibility.

PETA members prove themselves to be consistently inhumane to mankind. They are rude and hurtful to people who mind their own business and harm no one. I can't understand how they can view themselves as saviors to animals . I can't take seriously anything they do or say.
You have got to be kidding me... A protest.... at a DOG SHOW!! WOW!!!! I think PETA has officially lost their ever loving minds. I can understand wanting to help protect animals but these dogs are cared for. Why don't you people praise that? I think you should concentrate on the poor plant life as well, the beuty and their feelings too, can you imagine being ripped up by your roots and eaten raw, how painful. Infact maybe we should start eating humans instead to protect our animals and plants!! (Im joking By the Way) just making a point
According to public record, PETA KILLS the chances of shelter dogs ...cats and wildlife. PETA's VA shelter is one of the highest kill shelters around, killing over 95% of the animals they take in.
A few years ago, two PETA workers found time between standing around dressed in silly costumes and coming up with slogans to drive the PETA van around picking up dogs in need from vet offices to "save". Sounds like good work for animals right? Sure, until you get to the part in the story where they were killing the dogs as soon as they got them in the van and were caught dumping their bodies in local businesses dumpsters. When questioned as to why they would do this, the workers stated that in the past the odor of a day's worth of dead dogs in the van starts to get really bad.
Not to worry though, PETA spent some of their millions in donations to help these two workers with the lawsuit they faced.
