PETA Fires Back at Hunter and Meat Lover Sarah Palin
Former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's new book is hitting bookstores this week, and the advance word is that the lady who never saw a wolf, polar bear, or moose she wouldn't like to see ground up into burgers doesn't have many nice things to say about vegetarians. As was pointed out by PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk in her open letter to Palin, the only surprise is that Palin's jibes are as yawn-inducing as a rerun of The Man Show:
One has to wonder if there is an original line in Sarah Palin's book, given her remarks in it about vegetarians. (She seems to believe that we only eat salad, but if she's keeping an eye on The New York Times bestseller list, she will spot two vegan cookbooks in the top five with barely a salad recipe in either of them.)
The long-brandished rebuttal to Ms. Palin's filched quote "If God had not intended for us to eat animals, how come He made them out of meat?" is "I guess God also intended for humans to be cannibals then because we are also made out of 'meat.'" And as for the amazingly glib "I love animals—right next to the mashed potatoes," the first time I saw that slogan was a few decades before America was graced with Ms. Palin's public presence, when it was used interchangeably with "I love spotted owls: baked or fried."
Ms. Palin reportedly finds evolution a bit hard to swallow. Judging from her book, that applies to the evolution of ideas and attitudes as well.
Very truly yours,
Ingrid E. Newkirk

I love to read and take good care of books.
In my lifetime, I have thrown away only one book . It was written by Ingrid Newkirk.
It had a deceptive title that had something to do with making cats happy. Knowing I like cats, a relative bought it for me for a couple bucks after finding it in one of those bins filled with books no one would ever pay full price for.
In it, Ms. Newkirk provides recepies for cats, which contain no meat , and includes various ingredients known to be toxic to cats. Cats are obligate carnivors, which means they cannot metabolize anything other than meat as food . In other words, Ms. Newkirk's recepies would cause a slow and terrible death to any cat that ate is in a relatively short period of time.
PETA slaughters animals by the tens of thousands, but evidently only takes exception to those who eat what they kill. That's evidently the philosophical divide: killing for food (hunters) vs. killing for the pure joy of killing (PETA).

PeTA...hhmph
I was going to elaborate but you hit it right on the head. In fact, I beleive it was Virginia where so called PeTA "activists" went around a town supposedly picking up stray dogs and cats to "rescue" and find good homes for, but instead ruthlessly killed them and discarded the remains in dumpsters. How's that for the ethical treatment of animals ?

Sarah Palin isn't worth your while, Ingrid
She's a moral, political and intellectual lightweight. What she says about anything is meaningless, and she clearly knows next to nothing about the joy of plant-based living. We humans have a choice about what we eat, and whether we're intended to be omnivores or not, we can enjoy a vegan life and help the environment , the animals , and our own health all at the same time. The same cannot be said about meat -based eating. What a deal!

vegan life?
Beg to differ there amigo. Scientific studies have proven that a healthy diet needs to include meat . Our bodies were designed to eat meat AND vegetables. Your statement about "we humans have a choice about what we eat", is correct. The only problem with this is, your beloved PeTA doesn't see it that way. They think EVERYONE should live meat free. As for the anti- hunting aspect of PeTA, they have no idea as to the dire consequences that would derive from the elimination of the most economical, sound and elaborate means of wildlife poulation control. Take hunters out of the equation and wildlife populations would first skyrocket. Habitats would be wiped out from over grazing. Not only the habitats of the species hunted but every other species that lives in that habitat. With overpoplutaion comes disease. Disease then gives way to slow painful death. But then again, PeTA has never been all hat concerned with the well being of animals .

Vegetarian Diet Proven Healthy
According to the American Dietetic Association:
“It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases.”
Here is a link to a very good article about the American Dietetic Associations position on vegetarianism for those of you that want the truth:
