Wanted: Pat Riley, Miami Heat Seek Point Guard

If you listen to LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the rest of the new-look Miami Heat, you would think it’s the outsiders who are the problem. The pundits are the ones criticizing the team over one loss. The crazy fans are “hating.”

Well, it appears as if the Heat brass isn’t particularly satisfied with the team as it appears now either. According to ESPN insider Ric Bucher:

"Two different team executives said they expect the Heat to dangle $3 million and second-year PG Mario Chalmers to a lottery-bound team looking to shed the long-term contract of a mid-priced spot-up shooting PG. Riley's objective is to find another shooter to space the floor, a la B.J. Armstrong or John Paxson in their Chicago days playing alongside Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen."


We at The Daily Heat were under the impression that James and Wade were capable of bringing the ball up the floor and playing the one spot. Was that not the selling point this summer when some (read: us) said that Miami would struggle against the Rajon Rondos of the league with their horrible point guard options?

Of course, getting a point guard at this stage isn’t as easy as...
