BASE Jumper Records Video of Near-Death Experience Jumping Off Cliff
A Vimeo user with the handle "Subterminallyill" recently posted a video of himself jumping off a cliff with a parachute and slamming repeatedly into the side of the cliff while falling.
The video (below), entitled "Cliff Strike," plays in slow motion for three minutes, but the painful jump only lasted 15 seconds in real time, notes TheBlaze.com.
The BASE jumper used a GoPro camera attached to his helmet to record the near-death experience, reports BusinessInsider.com.
He is identified as Thayer Healey and the location is Moab, Utah, according to DailyDot.com.
On his Vimeo page, Healey lists his injuries: “Compression Fracture of the T12 Vertebra, 5 stitches to the eye, 6 stitches to the chin, severely sprained Back, wrist and hand. multiple bruised areas.”
According to Healey's Facebook page, he spent about 24 hours in the hospital after his jump.
