An Australian politician has found himself in hot water for liking a picture on Facebook in which a teen was covertly exposing himself.

In the picture, the 16-year-old boy is actually exposing part of his genitalia which in Australia is referred to as “sneaky nuts.” The stunt was popularized by Australia's comedian Chris Lilley.

"At first glance it appeared to be a harmless picture," said Peter Collier, Western Australia's minister for education, in a statement. Collier said Thursday that he had no idea the teen was playing a popular prank known as “sneaky nuts.”

"It was a silly mistake on my part. I only became aware of the actual content of the photo when shown by a journalist today," Collier said. "This obviously highlights the pitfalls of social media. I apologize if I caused any offence."
