Obama's Broken Promise-Stimulus Goes to the Dogs, Literally
By Katherine Mangu-Ward
President Obama in a speech to the National Conference of State Legislatures on March 2009:
Now, no plan is perfect. And I can't stand here and promise you that not one single dollar will slip through the cracks. But what I can promise you is that we will do everything in our power to prevent that from happening, which is why we're building on the provisions in the Recovery Act to forbid the use of these funds to build things like dog parks.
Now, let me be clear. I don't have anything against dog parks. [Laughter] I intend to get a dog. [Laughter] What I do oppose is building them with funds from the Recovery Act, because that's not how we'll jumpstart job creation, and that's not how we'll put our economy on a firmer footing for the future.
Half a block from my house, November 2009:
Yep. That's a state-of-the-art dog park, paid for with stimulus money.
Like the man said: No plan is perfect.

Big Deal
He probably got ten million letters demanding funds be used to build dog parks in response to his comments.
If you vote for bread and circuses, don't be suprised to see government run by fat clowns.

I think the problem is
that the author can't read:
"Now, no plan is perfect. And I can't stand here and promise you that not one single dollar will slip through the cracks. But what I can promise you is that we will do everything in our power to prevent that from happening ..."
He basically just admitted that he would attempt to prevent something like that from happening, but he could not promise that it would not because it is difficult to micromanage every project. Learn to read.
What's even more funny though. I followed the link for the picture to flikr. Let's see some of the comments:
"Kombiz Lavasany says:
Just landed on the picture. I go by the park all the time. The sign is actually for repaving of 17th Street and not the dog park. "
" Kombiz Lavasany says:
Yes, they're doing renovations there on 17th St. The documents below the sign are about the paving of 17th st. "
Idiots, complete idiots.

I was checking to make sure
you were correct so I looked up New Hampshire Ave. dog park and found out some interesting tidbits for idiots. I found Washington Kaleidoscope which showed pictures with an article of the " cities first official dog park." It said the park was at the intersection of S and T street. Not New Hampshire Ave. Or is it? I then saw a link to look at the April 2nd article titled "City Gets First Permanent Dog Park" and wow look at that, it's on New Hamshire.
As for him not being able to prevent everything from slipping through the cracks, seriously? in his own city we shouldn't expect that? Yeah, he's really gives a ... Take a look at Chicago's 13th district. I dare you to vacation there for five minutes.
