Obama Approval Rating Up Since Osama Bin Laden Killing
In the aftermath of the Osama Bin Laden killing, one question that was asked is whether President Obama would benefit politically from it. It took just one day to answer that question -- yes.
According to The Atlantic Wire, Obama's job approval rating jumped nine points following the mission to kill Bin Laden. It now stands at 56%, his highest since 2009 reports The Washington Post.
The Post poll shows 75% of respondents think Obama deserves credit for Bin Laden's death. 69% approve of Obama's handling of terrorism -- an all time high for him. As for Afghanistan, 60% approve of how the president is handing the war.
The poll also shows people think former President Bush should get some credit for tracking down Bin Laden, but how much credit predictably depends on their political leanings. 81% of Republicans think Bush deserves at least some credit, while just 35% of Democrats think that.
